The Green Bay Packers lead the Washington Commanders 14-10 at halftime of their Week 7 meeting from FedEx Field.
The Packers began the scoring when quarterback Aaron Rodgers found running back Aaron Jones for a short touchdown to give Green Bay an early 7-0 lead.
The Commanders struggled to get anything going on offense, mainly due to quarterback Taylor Heinicke’s struggles. Washington was gifted with a muffed punt inside its own 15-yard line, but Heinicke’s third-down throw to rookie tight end Cole Turner was high, and the Commanders settled for a field goal.
On the next Washington possession, Heinicke was picked off by Green Bay linebacker De’Vondre Campbell, who returned it 62 yards for a touchdown.
Down 14-3, Heinicke had his best drive of the half behind the legs of running backs Brian Robinson Jr. and Antonio Gibson. A pair of big runs, one each by Robinson and Gibson, put Washington in the red zone, and Heinicke found Gibson for a nine-yard touchdown to cut the lead to 14-10.
Rodgers completed nine of 15 passes for 47 yards and a touchdown in the first half. The Packers had just 76 yards of total offense in the first half.
Heinicke completed seven of 17 passes for 40 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. Robinson has 48 yards rushing on 10 attempts, while Gibson has 30 yards on four attempts. Washington finished the first half with 140 total yards.
The Commanders will begin the second half on offense.
