Packers land 2 players on Prisco’s Top 100 Players of 2024 list

Only two members of the Green Bay Packers landed on Pete Prisco’s Top 100 Players of 2024 list for CBS Sports: cornerback Jaire Alexander and quarterback Jordan Love.

Alexander, a two-time All-Pro, slotted in at No. 64. He dropped 43 spots from last year, mostly due to injuries. A healthy season in 2024 could see him return to elite status.

“Injuries are the only thing that keep holding him back,” Prisco wrote. “He needs to stay on the field because when he does he can lock up any receiver in the league. The talent is certainly there to be a top-tier corner year in and year out.”

Love proved a lot of doubters wrong in his first season as a starter and will now go into 2024 as a legitimate Pro Bowl candidate. He ranked No. 87 overall and No. 14 among quarterbacks on Prisco’s list. Like the Packers believe, Prisco sees big things in the future for the 25-year-old quarterback.

“In his first full season as a starter, he showed he can be the Packers’ long-term quarterback,” Prisco wrote. “He threw 32 touchdown passes and 11 picks in leading the Packers to the playoffs. The best is yet to come for him.”

Two other Packers were honorable mentions: safety Xavier McKinney and edge rusher Rashan Gary. McKinney signed a big deal to join the Packers this offseason, potentially stabilizing Jeff Hafley’s secondary. Gary is enjoying a healthy offseason and will be another year removed from an ACL injury, possibly setting the groundwork for a big 2024 season.

Strong cases could be made for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and running back Josh Jacobs as honorable mentions, but neither made the list.

Former Packers running back Aaron Jones was an honorable mention.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was Prisco’s No. 1 overall player.
