The Green Bay Packers reported a workout for former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Jacob Eason on Tuesday’s transaction report.
It’s unclear as of Tuesday if the workout will result in a signing.
Eason, a fourth-round pick of the Colts in the 2020 draft, has played in only two regular-season games. He appeared in one game for the Colts in 2021 and one game for the Carolina Panthers in 2022. His career stat line: 5-of-10 passing for 84 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions, with a 39.2 passer rating.
At the NFL level, Eason has spent time with the Colts, Panthers, Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers. He was waived by the Panthers in May of 2023.
A Washington native, Eason spent two seasons at Georgia before transferring to Washington. He made 13 starts for the Huskies in 2019, completing 63.8 percent of his passes and throwing 23 touchdown passes against eight interceptions.
Eason stands 6-6 and has a strong arm.
The Packers signed USFL MVP Alex McGough last week but are still doing work on the quarterback position. Coach Matt LaFleur described the competition for the backup job behind Jordan Love as a “fluid situation.” The current depth chart features McGough, Danny Etling and fifth-round pick Sean Clifford.
