The Green Bay Packers hosted an official top-30 visit with Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer ahead of the 2023 NFL draft, according to Jordan Reid of ESPN.

The team’s list of reported top-30 visits can he viewed here: Tracking Packers’ official pre-draft visits ahead of 2023 NFL draft.

Mayer (6-4, 249) caught 180 passes for 2,099 yards and 18 touchdowns over 36 games, 28 starts and three seasons at Notre Dame.

At the combine, Mayer ran the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds, hit 32.5″ in the vertical leap and covered 9-10 in the broad jump. He finished the short shuttle in 4.44 seconds and 7.26 seconds in the three-cone drill and completed 21 reps on the bench press at Notre Dame’s pro day. His Relative Athletic Score is 7.65 out of 10.0.

Mayer played inline and split out wide for the Fighting Irish. He set school records for catches, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns by a tight end.

Dane Brugler of The Athletic rates Mayer as the No. 1 overall tight end in the 2023 draft class and the 19th overall player, putting him in contention to be the Packers’ first-round pick at No. 15 overall.

Green Bay has a gigantic need at tight end entering the 2023 draft. Mayer has both the inline experience and pass-catching ability to be an immediate contributor and weapon for the Packers as a rookie.
