The Green Bay Packers gave up 13 straight points in the fourth quarter to the Atlanta Falcons and lost 25-24 on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
The Packers led 24-12 entering the fourth quarter and looked primed to start 2-0, but the Falcons dominated the game’s final 15 minutes, using a Desmond Ridder touchdown run and two short field goals from Younghoe Koo to escape with a 1-point win in Week 2.
Buy Packers TicketsThe Packers offense had two three-and-outs and a four-play turnover on downs over three fourth-quarter drives that gained all of seven total yards. The Falcons, meanwhile, led scoring drives of 75 yards, 44 yards and 66 yards.
Jordan Love threw three touchdown passes, including two to rookie Jayden Reed, but he was 0-for-6 passing and had a false start in the fourth quarter. He threw incomplete on four-straight attempts on the Packers’ final drive.
The Packers defense gave up 446 total yards, including 211 rushing yards. The Falcons converted nine third or fourth downs and gained 27 total first downs.
While the Packers won the turnover battle 1-0, the Falcons outgained the Packers by over 200 yards and held the ball for over 36 minutes. Overall, the Falcons ran 78 plays compared to the Packers’ 47.
The Packers, now 1-1 and coming off a disappointing loss, will head home to play the New Orleans Saints in the home opener at Lambeau Field next Sunday.
