Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Jordan Morgan aggravated a pre-existing shoulder injury and will miss at least Sunday’s showdown with the Chicago Bears.
Coach Matt LaFleur said Morgan — the team’s first-round pick — reinjured his shoulder during practice this week. The Packers ruled him out for Sunday on the final injury report.
“He did (aggravate the shoulder), yesterday at practice,” LaFleur said Friday. “Again, unfortunate. We’re going through that process of what’s next, so we’re just working through it right now.”
It’s possible Morgan could land on injured reserve. The rookie originally injured the shoulder during training camp, which prevented him from winning the job as the starting right guard. Upon returning, Morgan re-injured the shoulder in Week 2 and missed three games.
When healthy, Morgan has rotated in and out of the lineup with Sean Rhyan at right guard.
According to Pro Football Focus, Morgan has allowed seven pressures, including three quarterback hits, and committed one penalty over 186 snaps across six games this season.
If Morgan has to miss extensive time, Rhyan would become a full-time player at right guard and rookie Jacob Monk would likely become the top interior backup.
The Packers made Morgan the 25th overall pick in the 2024 draft.
