Packers expected to be without David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins vs. Vikings

The returns of All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari and Pro Bowl offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins will have to wait at least one more week.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Green Bay Packers are expecting to be without Bakhtiari and Jenkins when they open the 2022 season against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Both players were listed as questionable on the final injury report of Week 1 on Friday.

If Bakhtiari doesn’t play, Yosh Nijman – who started eight games last season – would start at left tackle.

The starting offensive line would likely look a lot like the preseason, with Nijman at left tackle, Jon Runyan Jr. at left guard, Josh Myers at center, Jake Hanson at right guard and Royce Newman at right tackle, although it’s possible rookie Zach Tom could factor into the equation.

Bakhtiari has only played in one game (season finale vs. Lions) since suffering his knee injury in December of 2020. Jenkins injured his knee against the Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium in Week 11 of last season.

The Packers are also expected to be without receiver Allen Lazard, who was listed as doubtful after suffering an ankle injury last week. The team elevated Juwann Winfree from the practice squad to provide extra depth at receiver.
