The Green Bay Packers elevated cornerback Robert Rochell from the practice squad to the gameday roster for Week 8. The move was announced Saturday, making Beck available for Matt LaFleur and the Packers for Sunday’s showdown with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Packers may need depth on special teams with cornerback Corey Ballentine (ankle) doubtful to play.
Rochell was elevated from the practice squad in Weeks 3 and 4 and signed to the 53-man roster for Week 5. He played 34 snaps on special teams and delivered two tackles during the three games. He also missed one tackle and committed one penalty.
Rochell played snaps covering kickoffs (14) and punts (9) and on punt return (9) for coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
The Packers did not elevate a linebacker or an offensive lineman despite Quay Walker and Josh Myers both being listed as questionable.
All teams are allowed to elevate up to two players from the practice squad each week. An individual player can only be elevated from the practice squad three times per season, so Rochell is out of elevations and would need to be signed to the active roster to play in a game for the Packers again this season. On Monday, Rochell will revert to the practice squad.
The Packers have elevated at least one player during each of the first eight weeks in 2024.
