The Green Bay Packers have lost four straight games and are now widely considered to be one of the NFL’s worst teams entering Week 9 of the 2023 season.
After losing 24-10 to the Justin Jefferson-less Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at Lambeau Field, the 2-5 Packers dropped two more spots to No. 28 in the USA Today power rankings. Matt LaFleur’s team sits in the bottom five above only the Chicago Bears, Washington Commanders, Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals.
Here’s the Packers blurb from Nate Davis:
They’ve now lost four of five, failing to score a first-half TD in all of those games while being collectively outscored 73-9 before halftime.
The Vikings actually dropped four spots in the rankings despite winning a third-straight game. Kirk Cousins suffered a season-ending injury, leaving Minnesota at 4-4 with major questions at quarterback.
Jordan Love is healthy in Green Bay, but the Packers’ only two wins this season came against the Bears, now No. 29 in the rankings, and the Saints, who sit at No. 20. And the latter required a comeback from 17-0 down.
Will the losing streak end this week?
The Packers will welcome the Los Angeles Rams, the No. 16 team in the rankings, to Lambeau Field on Sunday. The Rams could be without quarterback Matthew Stafford, who injured his thumb in a loss to Dallas last week.
The 7-1 Philadelphia Eagles and 6-2 Baltimore Ravens now sit atop the rankings entering Week 9.
