The Green Bay Packers added five new players to their injury list on Tuesday, according to The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman.
The newly injured players and their ailments include:
RB AJ Dillon: Stinger
OL Andre Dillard: Shoulder
TE Tyler Davis: Shoulder
DE Preston Smith: Illness
DE Spencer Waege: Concussion
Dillon’s stinger might explain why he didn’t play in Sunday’s preseason matchup against the Denver Broncos, although it remains unclear when the injury occurred. Smith, who had a strong showing during Friday’s joint practice with the Broncos, was one of 31 players held out of Sunday’s game, which included most of the team’s starters.
Dillard, Davis, and Waege combined to play 66 snaps in Denver, but their injuries went unreported during the game. All three players are competing for spots on the 53-man roster. Dillard got the start at left tackle and did not allow a sack or pressure in seven pass-blocking snaps. Davis was called for a holding penalty but did not receive a target or record a tackle on special teams, while Waege logged two tackles in 32 defensive snaps.
Rookie linebacker Ralen Goforth was also out on Tuesday due to the concussion he suffered vs. the Broncos.
On a positive note, head coach Matt LaFleur provided an update on rookie linebacker Edgerrin Cooper, stating that he would participate in individual drills on Tuesday.
With the preseason finale against the Baltimore Ravens approaching on Saturday, depth players will have one last opportunity to prove why they should make this year’s team.
