With it being only a matter of time before the Packers trade Aaron Rodgers to the Jets, running back Aaron Jones is optimistic about the team’s replacement under center. While on the team’s five-day “Tailgate Tour,” Jones had an interesting takeaway after working out with Jordan Love in California earlier in the offseason.
“He was comfortable, throwing the ball with swag,” Jones said, per ESPN. “He knows where he wants to be, and he’s going to keep working to get there.”
He’ll have big shoes to fill in Green Bay, but Love has patiently waited for this moment ever since the team selected him with the No. 26 pick in the 2020 NFL draft. Since he joined the Packers, he has played sparingly, tallying just 606 passing yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions in 10 appearances while completing 60.2% of his passes.

Jones appears to have plenty of faith in Love, but some extra help in this year’s upcoming draft wouldn’t hurt the team’s offense. Unfortunately, the Packers need to get the Rodgers trade sorted before the draft that starts on April 27 to be able to get some more talent ahead of the ’23 season. On that front, Packers president Mark Murphy was mum and said it was between the two team’s general managers.
“I can’t really get into that,” Murphy said Tuesday when asked about trade negotiations. “I know Brian [Gutekunst] and Joe [Douglas] have been talking.”
Packers president Mark Murphy before leaving for the team’s annual bus tour of Wisconsin wouldn’t say whether he considers the ball to be in their court or in the Jets’ court when it comes to finishing the Aaron Rodgers trade.
