Pacers’ Haliburton Thanks Mom With Tear-Jerking Message After Max Extension

Indiana Pacers All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton couldn’t help but let the emotions flow in a press conference on Thursday while discussing his recent $260 million max extension.

While addressing the media, Haliburton was brought to tears as he thanked the most important person responsible for success—his mom.

“There’s so many people here for me to thank, but I’d be wrong to not start with my mom,” Haliburton said. “A lot of people don’t know this. My mom missed my first-ever game my freshman year of college because the plane didn’t take off to get to Lubbock to go to watch Texas Tech. Before my freshman year, my mom never missed a game of mine.“

“My mom has been my everything for me to get here. I can’t even put into words to explain everything, but I’m just really appreciative of you, mom, because of all the stuff of us growing up, and you pushing me to be where I am today... I love you and I’m really appreciative of you. So, thank you, mom,” Haliburton said.

The No. 12 pick of the 2020 NBA Draft was acquired by the Pacers in a ’22 trade with Sacramento that included Buddy Hield and Tristan Thompson in exchange for Domantas Sabonis, Jeremy Lamb, and Justin Holiday.

The 6'5" standout led the Pacers in scoring averaging 20.7 points per game, while adding 10.4 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.
