Anyone who has spent too much time online toiling through the depths of the sports social media landscape has likely enjoyed the posts of Lakers legend Magic Johnson.
On X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, Johnson’s posts break through the usual nonsense of clickbait, hot takes, and purposeful outrage-inducing messages because of their earnestness.
Magic is pure of heart, and you can tell by the way he posts.
Scroll through the most recent posts on his account, and you will get a pretty good idea of Johnson’s entire online persona. He is a firm supporter of his teams but also extremely literal. This man tells it like it is.
I mean, exactly like it is.
I’m so excited my team @LAFC is advancing to the MLS Conference Finals after beating Seattle 1-0!

Johnson’s tweets have become the subject of fascination for many across the sports media world, and on Tuesday, an episode of Pablo Torre Finds Out attempted to answer the question—who exactly is behind Johnson's posts?
Torre's first instinct was to go directly to the source, emailing "Magic's people" to see if they could provide any further answers. In response, he got a message from Alexia Grevious Henderson, the Vice President of Magic Johnson Enterprises.
"Thank you for reaching out," Henderson wrote in response. "Unfortunately Mr. Johnson respectfully declines to participate. He has elected not to discuss the behind-the-scenes of his social media strategy."
Undeterred, Torre kept digging and spoke with actor Rob Lowe, who has been friends with Johnson since the ’80s. Lowe and Torre shared an appreciation for the earnestness of Johnson’s posts, correctly pointing out that he is one of the very few people on the planet using the social media platform correctly.
"I have it on very good authority that he dictates it," Lowe told Torre. "He has somebody who, whatever occurs to him, with the emphasis on whatever occurs to him. It’s the best. Twitter was made for him."
But that was as far as Lowe's knowledge on the subject went.
"I’ll ask Magic the next time I see him. The world wants to know," Lowe said. "Are you seated in a big smoking chair? Are you doing a walk-and-talk? Is there a fleet? You’re a billionaire now, so I’m assuming it’s a fleet of people, not just one person, who are instantly putting on their phone. If it’s their phone, how does it get on your Twitter? The world needs to know."
While confirming that Johnson was for sure the voice behind his posts was a comfort, Torre pushed for more and was eventually able to identify the fingers that are responsible for translating Johnson’s words into his online verses.
After a series of background interviews, Torre says he found the answer.
"I got to somebody who was in the room while it was happening," Torre said. "Magic Johnson with this mystery person posting to the account. And what I was told, the person who physically posts for Magic Johnson was none other than Alexia Grevious Henderson herself."

Mystery solved! As it turns out, the answer was right in front of Torre the entire time—the person who responded to his initial query was the person posting for Magic! Thank you, as always, to Torre for his fearless journalism.
