Pablo Mari's condition confirmed as Monza CEO gives update on Arsenal defender after knife attack

Monza president Adriano Galliani has sent a message to Arsenal defender Pablo Mari after he was involved in a knife attack near Milan.

The Spaniard was one of six people hurt in the attack at an Italian supermarket this evening (October 27th) and has been taken to hospital.

The incident, which happened at Carrefour in the Milanofirori di Assago shopping centre has left one dead and six injured according to Italian reports.

In a message put out by the club's president, Galliani said: "Pablo Mari is not in danger as his injuries are not life-threatening. We hope to see him back soon."

He also said, via a message on the club's official Twitter account: "Dear Pablo, we are all here close to you and your family, we love you, keep fighting as you know how to do, you are a warrior and you will get well soon."

A 46-year-old man has since been arrested for the attacks after taking a knife from the shelves of the store.

Speaking after Arsenal's 2-0 Europa League defeat to PSV Eindhoven, Mikel Arteta addressed the news, saying, "I just found out. I know Edu has been in touch with his relatives. He's in hospital but he seems to be ok."

The club added: "We understand he's in hospital and OK but know no more than that at this time."

Mari joined Monza on loan earlier this summer after spending last season at Udinese.
