The Met Police goods worth in excess of £22,000
(Picture: Westminster Council )The Met Police have seized a large number of fake designer goods and illegal tobacco following a raid on a shop in Oxford Street.
The operation found over 1,500 counterfeit goods worth more than £22,000 following the operation on the property.
The raid, which took place on March 29, was taken in collaboration with Westminster Council and the Met Police.
Among the goods seized were snus tobacco, counterfeit hoodies with unofficial trade marks and mobile phone covers with trade marks such as Louis Vuitton and Nike.
Counterfeit Jack Daniels lighters, vaping devices which contained excessive levels of nicotine and soft toys lacking the required labelling were also discovered by officers.
Raj Mistry, Executive Director of Environment & City Management at Westminster City Council, said: “We want people who visit Oxford Street to feel confident that the products they buy are both safe and genuine.
“We found an astonishing haul of unsafe and counterfeit goods being sold in this shop, including mislabelled tobacco and potentially dangerous toys.
"The council will continue to work with the police and other agencies to ensure consumers are safe, and to protect the reputation of Oxford Street as a leading destination for shoppers.”
