Owner's message to customers after opening Wirral's first ever Nepalese restaurant

The owner of Wirral's first Nepalese restaurant had said it is "an honour" to share his culture with customers.

Mt Everest, on Wallasey Road in Liscard, offers Nepalese cuisine alongside Indian classics — bringing something completely new to the Wirral dining scene. The restaurant opened in February this year and Nepalese MoMos (dumplings) and Gurkhali Chicken have been particularly popular.

The new restaurant has been created by Nepalese chef, Deepak Khadka, who also owns the Everest Kitchen in West Derby. Deepak originally opened the Mexican Bar & Grill on the site but the restaurant has now been moved to a larger location on Liscard Road.

Deepak said: “It is a great honour for me to bring my native Nepal to Wirral and the feedback from customers has really touched us. To have such praise from local people is really special and we take great pride in giving each and every one of them a special experience — giving them an authentic taste of our culture and cuisine.

“I opened Mexican Bar & Grill in Liscard in 2021 and it has been very popular, but we soon found that people were booking large parties regularly as it’s a really fun celebration venue. That’s when I came up with the idea of moving Mexican Bar & Grill to a larger venue and opening Wirral’s first-ever Nepalese restaurant here on Wallasey Road.”

Both restaurants are open seven days a week and offer a 10% discount on deliveries and takeaways. Deepak Khadka has made a name for himself as one of the region’s leading Nepalese chefs and is well respected in the Nepalese community.

Deepak said: “It is a great honour for me to bring my native Nepal to Wirral and the feedback from customers has really touched us. Mexican Bar & Grill has been doing great things in Liscard and we will continue to do so in our larger venue, but to see the Nepalese concept have such praise from local people is really special.”
