The owner of one of Bristol’s most popular burger restaurants has sold the business.
Former Bristol University politics student Dan Bekhradnia started The Burger Joint in 2009 with a small site on Cotham Hill.
Three years later, he moved the restaurant to a larger site on Whiteladies Road and then opened a second Burger Joint in Bedminster.

But 13 years since it launched, Dan has sold the business to three local businessmen.
Dan, who now lives in Devon, says it’s the first restaurant venture for the as yet unnamed new owners, but he will be helping them in the early stages of handing over the business.
The Burger Joint has remained one of Bristol’s most successful burger restaurants and Dan says the new owners have no plans to make huge changes.
“The new owners don’t want to mess with the basics of the business but have exciting growth plans.
“I will still be involved to give strategic advice to them and I'm excited for the future of the business.”
Dan says that he decided to sell the business after the challenges faced during the pandemic.
“Covid was the biggest challenge I faced over 13 years but we got through it and actually ended up thriving, helped of course by government support.
“We’ve had one of our busiest years ever but it's been really hard work and challenging.
“We had to deal with staffing and supply issues but also had to close the Clifton site on three separate occasions due to staff getting covid.
“These last two years have taken its toll on me and I feel the time is right to move on.
“I never wanted to be in the hospitality industry forever - it’s a young person’s game - and I feel I’ve taken the business as far as I can and I’m excited to move on to something else.”
Both Burger Joint restaurants on Whiteladies Road and North Street, Bedminster, remain open as usual to eat in and for deliveries.
