Owaisi demands white paper on Chinese intrusions

Hyderabad Parliamentarian Asaduddin Owaisi charged the Centre with commenting more on Ukraine as compared to China, and demanded a debate in the next Parliament session on the “border situation in Ladakh”.

Taking to Twitter, Mr Owaisi said, “Other than denial which we saw from Modi after Galwan, we don’t know what our strategy and plan is to force the Chinese to vacate our territories in Ladakh that they’ve occupied since 2020,” even as he questioned whether India is going to wait for the Chinese forces to “vacate these areas where our patrols are being blocked”. He also sought to know whether the Centre would work on plans to “evict Chinese soldiers from our land”.

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president alleged that the country was being kept in the dark and that there was little clarity of why 15 rounds of talks between both countries’ military had “failed”. “Another session has gone and the parliament has not been informed of anything,” he tweeted.

Mr Owaisi stated that the primary duty of the Union government is to preserve India’s territorial integrity and that it is answerable to the public through the Parliament. “Its refusal to do so, as evident from Modi’s denial, is an admission of guilt,” he claimed.

Mr Owaisi reiterated his demand for a white paper on the border situation in Ladakh, a briefing of all parties represented in Parliament, and a full debate in the next session of Parliament.

He also stated that a team of Members of Parliament, and journalists should be allowed to visit Ladakh to observe the situation and take the truth to the people. “That is the least we Indians deserve,” he tweeted.
