Overwatch League Skin: How To Get The New Widowmaker Look

Widowmaker got a new Overwatch look ahead of the Overwatch League 1v1 tournament. Blizzard Entertainment

The second Overwatch League tournament of the year is about to take place and, just like last time, there’s a special skin that’s up for grabs for the next couple of weeks. Widowmaker is getting the legendary skin treatment this time around.

Her Ange de la Mort skin, French for Angel of Death, is appropriately gloomy and it’s almost as if Widow is giving her take on Reaper cosplay. (Side note: Team 4, please make skins of heroes cosplaying as each other.) It’s black and grey with a skull on her waist and a headpiece that looks a little more like Reinhardt’s logo than her regular cowl. But this is still very much a Widow skin — her spider motif is placed prominently on her chest.

“We wanted to design one of the darkest skins in the game—the goal was to make her feel lifeless, scary, dangerous, cold, and lethal,” Blizzard said.” A bringer of death in the form of a cyborg from the future with a hint of fantastical element in her costume.”

It’s a cool skin and one that probably won’t spark as much discussion as the controversial MM-Mei skin for May Melee.

Widowmaker was the obvious choice for this tournament cycle’s skin. Just before the June Joust final gets underway on Saturday, the annual Widowmaker 1v1 tournament will take place, with legendary hitscan player Pine returning to represent Dallas Fuel.

The Widowmaker Ange de la Mort skin costs 200 Overwatch League tokens, which you can earn by watching live matches on YouTube. Otherwise, you can buy enough tokens for around $10. You can purchase the skin in-game by selecting the Overwatch League menu and then the Overwatch League logo underneath all of the ones for individual teams.

Remember that although cross-play is coming to Overwatch soon, cross-progression is not. You’ll still need to buy the skin on every account where you’d like to have it.

If you don’t quite have enough tokens, you can top up your balance by connecting your Battle.net account to YouTube and watching the June Joust tournament this weekend. Between Thursday and Saturday, New York Excelsior, Shanghai Dragons, Dallas Fuel and Atlanta Reign will duke it out for the June Joust title, $100,000 and three crucial Overwatch League points.
