Amid escalating tensions in the region, more than half a million individuals have fled from Lebanon into Syria since September 23 due to intensified Israeli strikes in Lebanon. The Lebanon Disaster Risk Management Unit reported that out of the total number of refugees, 348,237 are Syrian citizens, while 156,505 are Lebanese citizens.
Authorities have identified at least 190,975 internally displaced individuals currently residing in approved shelters, although the actual figures are believed to be higher. The DRMU has implemented psychosocial support programs and protection measures for vulnerable groups such as children, women, individuals with disabilities, and the elderly within the shelters.
Over the past 24 hours, Lebanon has experienced 125 airstrikes and shelling incidents, primarily concentrated in the South and Nabatiyeh regions, bringing the total number of attacks since the onset of the conflict to 11,085. The Lebanese health ministry confirmed that in the latest wave of Israeli strikes, 41 people lost their lives, and 133 others sustained injuries across the country.
The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which has persisted for over a year, escalated further as the Israel Defense Forces reported that around 45 projectiles launched by Hezbollah from Lebanon crossed into Israeli territory. Israel disclosed that approximately 60,000 individuals have been evacuated from northern Israel since Hezbollah initiated rocket attacks on October 8 last year in support of Hamas in Gaza, following deadly assaults by Hamas on Israel.
