Over 150,000 individuals in Los Angeles County found themselves under evacuation orders on Saturday night, as confirmed by Michael Traum, an official with the California Office of Emergency Services. The situation was deemed serious enough that more than 700 people sought refuge in nine available shelters, according to Traum.
The Palisades Fire prompted an expanded evacuation order on Friday, with the University of California, Los Angeles, cautioning students to be prepared for a potential evacuation as the warnings edged closer to the campus. Sheriff Robert Luna reported that nearly 180,000 county residents were under evacuation orders on Thursday, with an additional 200,000 residents under evacuation warnings.

It's important to note the distinction between an evacuation order and a warning. An evacuation order is mandatory, requiring immediate action, while a warning serves as a preparatory measure, alerting residents that they may soon need to vacate their homes.
