More than 130 anti-Israel agitators were arrested after police raided the encampment on UCLA's campus. The California Highway Patrol, along with other law enforcement agencies, responded to a mutual aid request from the UCLA Police Department. Clad in face shields and protective vests, officers stood ready with batons to maintain order as they faced off against demonstrators wearing helmets and gas masks, chanting, 'You want peace. We want justice.'
Despite orders to disperse, hundreds of protesters remained, prompting law enforcement to remove barricades and take action. Some individuals were detained and had their hands bound with zip ties as part of the arrest process.
Sergeant Alejandro Rubio of the California Highway Patrol confirmed the agency's involvement, stating, 'In response to a mutual aid request from UCLA, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) deployed to assist the UCLA Police Department. CHP was one of several law enforcement agencies that responded to the campus' request for assistance. CHP assisted in arresting more than 130 protesters who will be processed by the UCLA Police Department.'
