However, it is believed around 100 pigs inside the lorry died, either on impact or by smothering, according to The Northern Sound newspaper.
The paper reports that another 20 pigs were so badly injured after the crash that they needed to be put down.
Monaghan Fire Service confirmed to the Irish Mirror that they responded to the incident and set up an enclosure for the remaining live pigs, who were later transported to their destination in Letterkenny.
In a statement, they said: "Earlier today, Castleblayney fire service attended an RTC involving an overturned lorry on N2 Tullyvin Roundabout, Castleblayney. Emergency Traffic control and traffic Diversions were put in place."
Gardai have been contacted for comment.
