"Unbelievable." "Outstanding." They were some of the superlatives used by the black and white faithful as Eddie Howe's side took Leicester City apart to secure their place in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
Newcastle had plenty of opportunities to win the game in normal time, bombarding the Leicester goal in the first-half and picking up where they left off in the second. Dan Burn finally broke the deadlock for the Magpies on the hour mark, riding the challenge of two Leicester players and picking out the bottom corner.
Joelinton added a second to ensure the Magpies of their place in the semi-final with a well timed finish with 72 minutes on the clock. Supporters took to social media to celebrate the Toon reaching their first semi-final since the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United back in 04/05.
