Outspoken Democrat Kyrsten Sinema mocked after wearing a denim vest while presiding over the Senate

The outspoken Democrat senator Kyrsten Sinema caused a stir on Tuesday after she presided over the senate while wearing a denim vest.

Yes, the kind of denim vest that you would see at an Iron Maiden concert.

The Arizona senator, who has caused controversy by refusing to back mandates introduced by president Joe Biden, most notably the infrastructure bill, is no stranger to making a scene at the Capitol building.

In the past, she’s worn rucksacks and wigs on the senate floor for no apparent reason and this latest choice of attire proved equally baffling with many suggesting it’s not an acceptable uniform for an elected US politician.

According to Karen Tumulty of the Washington Post, there used to be a sign forbidding journalists from wearing denim in the chamber.

Her colleague Paul Kane did later confirm that the sign is still there, making the situation even more confusing.

Needless to say, the reaction to the vest was a mixture of derision and bewilderment.

For those interested, the rest of the outfit involved a mini skirt, a big pink handbag and a pair of trainers.

We have to say that it’s quite a look for a politician but, as it isn’t 1983 anymore, we can’t really see it catching on.
