'Outrageous!' - Fans slam Manchester United as they make James Garner transfer decision

Manchester United supporters have hit out at the club for being prepared to sell midfielder James Garner before the transfer window closes.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, United, who were thrashed 4-0 by Brentford on Saturday, are ready to sell the academy graduate, despite their ongoing midfield troubles. The club is understood to value him at between £15million and £20million.

The Birkenhead-born midfielder, who has not featured in either of United's opening two Premier League fixtures, is attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur and former loan club Nottingham Forest. Garner has spent time on loan at Forest in each of the last two seasons and played a formidable role in helping them clinch promotion back to the top flight last term.

His performances for Forest were both impressive and eye-catching, leaving United's fans purring at the prospect of seeing him become a key part of the new era under Erik ten Hag. The United manager was planning to use pre-season to analyse the 21-year-old before making a decision on his short-term future, with another loan exit deemed possible.

However, it is understood that United have decided that they are prepared to offload the central-midfielder permanently. He played three times in pre-season, starting the 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano just over a fortnight ago.

Unsurprisingly, news of United being ready to offload Garner has angered supporters. Not only are they angry about being prepared to say goodbye to a player with potential, they are also furious because they believe he could ease their current midfield woes.
