Outpouring of support for family of tragic dad-of-three who died after crash on Scots road

A fundraiser set up in memory of a dad-of-three who tragically died after a crash on an unclassified Scots road has topped £15,000.

Matthew Burden, a gamekeeper from Tarland, Aberdeenshire, was involved in an incident between Tarland and Tillypronie, near Migvie on the morning of Saturday, January 29.

The 36-year-old had been driving at the time of the collision which involved a green Can-Am light utility vehicle, according to Police Scotland.

Matthew was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but sadly, he could not be saved. He later died on Sunday, February 6.

A week on from his 'shocking' death, a fundraiser has been set up in support of Matthew's distraught family including his fiancée and his three children.

The gofundme page was created just three days ago but has already exceeded its initial £5,000 target and is currently sitting at an incredible £15,495.

Andrew Reid, who set up the page, said: "Mathew ( Matt ) Burden was involved in an accident on the 29th of January and tragically lost his fight for life on the 6th of February, aged only 36.

"Matt was a Gamekeeper and was a great friend to many in and out of the profession.

"He was genuine, funny, caring and would have done anything for anyone."

He explained that all money raised would go towards supporting Matthew's family.

At the time of his passing, Matthew's family released an emotional statement through Police Scotland. They said: “It is with our deepest devastation and sorrow that we have to inform everybody of the passing our beloved Matt.

“Our family would appreciate some privacy at this time to come to terms with our grief.”

Road Policing Sergeant Peter Henderson said: “Our thoughts remain with Matthew’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I would urge anyone who may have information who has not yet spoken to an officer to get in touch

“You can contact Police Scotland by calling 101, quoting incident number 1186 of 29 January, 2022.”
