Outlander TV series beauty spot Devil's Pulpit put up for sale

FINNICH Glen, often referred to as the Devil's Pulpit, has been put on the market alongside 23 acres of surrounding land.

The renowned gorge, just 12 miles from Glasgow, was already a popular destination among Scots.

But after featuring in the TV series Outlander and the film King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, its popularity exploded with an estimated 70,000 visitors a year.

Now the site has gone up for sale alongside 23 acres of land which already has planning proposals approved.

There is no listed price, although it is provided to "seriously interested parties on application”.

A property listing on the Graham + Sibbald website reads: "The site for sale is only some 30 mins drive from the centre of Glasgow City. The proximity of the land for sale to the very busy A809 and the A81 means the site is very well provided for communications.

"The Devil's Pulpit has been made famous because of its use in several Holywood productions such as The Eagle, Detective Pickachu, Guy Ritchie's King Arthur and TVseries such as Taggart; Neil Oliver's Ancient Britain; a Sherlock Holmes; and Outlander.

"The use of the gorge means the site for sale is on the film and TV itinerary for international and national tourists who want to experience these film and TV locations, otherwise knowns as 'set-jetting'."

The listing also suggested that the popularity of Outlander could see visitor numbers soar to 350,000 once a visitor’s centre and a 150-space parking lot are constructed.

The development also suggests making safety improvements as the listing notes the site is a “potential safety hazard as people are not careful near the edges of the gorge, and there have been a few rescues”.

Restrictions have also previously been put in place around the beauty spot in an effort to combat "dangerous and reckless parking" due to the influx in visitor numbers.
