Outlander’s Sam Heughan is due to appear in Edinburgh this Sunday as part of his sold out book tour.

Author and columnist Cameron McNeish said he is delighted to host the launch of Sam Heughan's new book this weekend and to “catch up with the big man.”

Sam himself has plugged his new book and his Capital’s tour on social media, and he invited everyone to join him for an evening discussing his book “Waypoints” and his journey to the highlands.

“This weekend marks the start of the UK leg of the Waypoints book tour,” Sam told Instagram on Friday.

“On Sunday, the brilliant Cameron McNeish will be hosting a sold out McEwan Hall event and we’re delighted to announce that Andrew Cotter will be hosting in London on Monday.”

“Should be a wonderful evening, excited to see you all in person!”, Sam wrote previously.

Sam Heughan will be at the University of Edinburgh’s McEwan Hall on Sunday at 7:30pm to discuss his book with a sold out audience. On Monday, he will be in London for a second nearly sold out event.

Edinburgh attendees will be taking home signed hardback copies of Sam’s ‘memoir with a difference’ at the end of the night, and the whole event will also be live streamed for digital ticket holders. Sam said digital viewers will be able to purchase a signed copy of his book as well as a unique ticket to the stream.

Sam’s new book is called ‘Waypoints: My Scottish Journey’ and it will officially be published on Tuesday 25 October.

Waterstones described Sam’s new book as a ‘thoughtful and fascinating memoir that is essential reading for his legions of fans.’

The book follows Sam’s journey of self-discovery through the Scottish Highlands. Sam sets out along the West Highland Way to explore his Scottish heritage and reflect on his personal waypoints.

“I wanted to tell the stories and share the experiences that have shaped me, but to do that I needed to challenge myself and spend some time in my own company, away from the distractions of everyday life. And for me there's no better place to reflect than in the wild Scottish Highlands,” Sam said of his book.

‘Waypoint’ is Sam’s second book. His first, ‘Clanlands: Whisky, Warfare, and a Scottish Adventure Like No Other’ was co-written with Graham McTavish in 2020.

The event will be live streamed via Fane Online. The stream will be available for one week after the initial broadcast.
