Hamilton and Rutherglen were blessed with some Hollywood glamour today after Outlander star Sam Heughan sat - and completed - his motorcycle test this afternoon in the area.
The 40-year-old actor, who has been tipped to succeed Daniel Craig as the next James Bond, gained his full bike licence from motorcycle driving school BikeRite Rider Training in Rutherglen.
Sam sat his test on the roads in Hamilton at 12:30 this afternoon, with his motorcycle helmet ensuring that he scooted about incognito as he did so while being followed by an examiner.
Roy McCulloch of BikeRite Rider Training told Glasgow Live : "He's been absolutely brilliant. He's a very down to earth and approachable guy. He took his instructions well - as an actor he is used to taking direction!".

Sam initially did his compulsory basic training course (CBT) back at the Rutherglen training centre in July of 2018, and has spent the last week doing training prior to his test at the centre after being delayed in getting his full licence due to his acting commitments.

Unfortunately we weren't able to get the scoop that Sam was getting his full motorcycle licence for any possible upcoming 007 role. Instead, it seems as if he got the licence for his own enjoyment.
"He wasn't doing it specifically for a particular role, it was just something he wanted to complete. He wanted to do it last year but with everything that was going on he couldn't," added Roy.
Well done Sam!
