Outlander's Sam Heughan teases he's 'open to' relationship on Drew Barrymore show

Sam Heughan teased his relationship status on the Drew Barrymore Show this week after being spotted locking lips with a mystery brunette.

The Outlander actor was snapped in New York this week cosying up to an Australian model in photos obtained by the Daily Mail.

The 41-year-old actor plays Jamie Fraser in the hit historical fantasy series based on the books by Diana Gabaldon, alongside Caitriona Balfe, who plays Claire Fraser.

The Dumfries -born actor has hinted that the sixth instalment of Outlander is set to be the 'darkest yet' as war is approaching Fraser's Ridge, and old enemies resurface.

Barrymore teased the Scots actor asking: "You're single"

"Wow, why are you asking?" He cheekily quipped back.

The actress asked him: "Well, I heard that you want to put career ahead and put romance in the backseat. Is that still true?"

"I never said that I don't think Drew Barrymore, but I, certainly, the job is so all encompassing and we spend so much time on set and at work.

"Yeah, I'm open to something," Sam replied.

As the crowd bursts into cheers, Sam added: "I'm not sure what I'm saying I'm open for, but I'm open."

Well, Sam may have just found what he is open for after being spotted with beautiful Australian model Monika Clarke, as the two were spotted kissing at lunch this week.

They were later spotted pottering through the streets of New York as they enjoyed a coffee to go.

Sam is notoriously private about his dating life and likes to keep things underwraps, which is understandable after finding global fame with the Outlander series.

However, he is always open about the love story of his character Jamie in the franchise - telling Drew Barrymore that the show had brought in an intimacy coordinator for the second season.

“An intimacy adviser is kind of a more common practice now in the industry,” he revealed.

“When we started we were totally green. You’re kind of just thrown in the deep end, and we were, and we sort of found our way through it together and we supported each other through it.

"But actually, bringing someone on board means we’re all more supported and we can find new ways to be more intimate and to add more to those scenes.

"So, I think it’s a really welcome addition.”
