Outlander's Sam Heughan says Caitríona Balfe's baby bump was 'so big' they had to re-film

Outlander fans have 18 days until 'droughtlander' is over and the new season begins.

Season six is due to hit our screens on March 6 however it won't be found on Amazon or Netflix for all the 'Sassenachs' living in the UK.

Jamie Fraser, played by Sam Heughan, has spoken out about filming with Caitríona Balfe whilst she was pregnant with her first child.

He said it was in awe of Balfe "just to be shooting through winter during covid and also being pregnant...I think Caitriona did an incredible, incredible job."

The 41-year-old actor, who turns 42 in April, then recently said a difficulty they faced on set was hiding Balfe's baby bump because at some points, it become too noticeable, reports the Express.

Speaking at Wizard World, Heughan looked back on their time on the set of the latest season and what they had to re-film.

Heughan continued: "When they knew, they had to really move everything around so we could shoot her out before she got too big. - and she got big.

"She did really well but we had to shoot some out of sequence. We shot episodes one and three then had to shoot six or seven then it jumped back to four and we did a bunch of re-shoots as well at the end."

When questioned if he ever wanted to poke his co-star's belly he said: “I didn't poke her belly but there were times I almost forgot, cause when other actors have their baby bumps on it's so tempting to.

"I had to remind myself 'do not' but I think Caitriona would have punched me back."

Speaking to ELLE, Balfe confirmed her pregnancy was the cause of challenging moments on set and said that having been pregnant for the entire season "I could’ve probably timed things a little better, but these things happen when they do."
