Outlander heartthrob Sam Heughan reveals he knows how hit series will end

Scottish heartthrob Sam Heughan has revealed that he was sworn an oath of secrecy regarding the ending of the hit show Outlander.

Diana Gabaldon, the writer-creator of Outlander, and world famous Heughan are the only two people in the world who know how the series will end.

Heughan has played the Highland warrior since 2014 and has become a global superstar thanks to Gabaldon’s book series that was turned into one of the most famous TV shows of the modern era.

The author has announced that the series will only contain ten books in total and that has left fans of the show guessing as to how the time-travelling programme will end, the Scottish Daily Express reports.

And Heughan has confirmed that he will continue to keep the ending a secret and will not let slip the highly anticipated climax.

Speaking to Esquire, the Scottish star said: "Diana Gabaldon actually revealed to me how the whole thing’s going to end.

"She emailed me the last few pages of what will be the last book very early on, I think in the first few weeks of shooting and no one else has seen that I think, apart from one other exec producer.

Currently, they are filming season seven, which is based on the seventh book 'An Echo in the Bone.'

If the one book per season model continues, that would mean ten seasons of Outlander in total before the finale.

Gabaldon has said in the past that Jamie’s ghost — which hasn’t been seen since the pilot episode — will return at the end of the story. And she promises plenty of tears. She also says the story will end in the year 1800.

“The last book will have a happy ending, though I confidently expect it to leave the readers in floods of tears, anyway,” Gabaldon wrote on her website.
