Outlander fans will get a very exclusive preview of the first episode of season six of STARZPLAY’s worldwide smash-hit at Glasgow Film Festival.
The 18th annual festival is all set to take place from 2 - 13 March at GFT and Cineworld Renfrew Street, as well as at partner cinemas across the UK and online.
And this year it boasts 10 World premieres, 4 European premieres, 65 UK premieres and 13 Scottish premieres.
The globally recognised fest will open with the UK premiere of The Outfit at Glasgow Film Theatre, which will also screen simultaneously at cinemas across the UK, from London to Stornoway.
And it will close with the UK premiere of the Camera D’or-winning Murina, a tense family drama directed by Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic and executive-produced by Martin Scorsese.
Outlander fans will get an exclusive big screen preview of the first episode of the hotly tipped new season of Outlander before it airs anywhere else during the festival.
Other highlights include the European premiere of My Old School starring Alan Cumming, the unbelievable true story of thirty-something Scot Brandon Lee who managed to re-enroll in High School.
There's also the World premiere of Skint, led by a creative team including Peter Mullan and Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee and a special International Women’s Day gala UK premiere of Happening on 8 March.
They will be shown on big screens throughout the country, from Stornoway to Bristol via Edinburgh, Manchester, Dundee, Sheffield and London.
Scottish director Ruth Paxton’s feature debut A Banquet will also be shown in GFT and online via the Glasgow Film At Home platform.
Glasgow-born creative force Armando Iannucci will have a very special live ‘In Conversation’ event, looking back over his wide-ranging, multi-media career distinguished by his brilliant feel for character, unforgettable dialogue and razor-sharp wit.
Other GFF World premieres include the freewheeling documentary Wake Up Punk from Joe Corré - the son of Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood who in 2016 burnt millions of pounds worth of punk era memorabilia in protest and those looking for controversy can watch Benedetta, Paul Verhoeven’s outrageous saga of a 17th century nun’s forbidden affair with another woman.
Tickets for the Opening Gala ( The Outfit ), Closing Gala ( Murina ) and International Women’s Day Gala ( Happening ) go on sale at 10am on Monday 31 January from GFT Box Office and glasgowfilm.org/festival
FrightFest passes also go on sale at 10am on Tuesday 1 February and all other screenings in the full GFF22 programme go on sale at 10am on Wednesday 2 February from GFT Box Office and glasgowfilm.org/festival
