Outlander fans buzz over fourth episode as they gush over 'amazing' season

Outlander fans have been left reeling after an action-packed episode sees Jamie and Claire Fraser join the revolution.

The fourth episode, titled 'A Most Uncomfortable Woman', begins with a time jump as viewers see Roger (Richard Rankin) and Brianna (Sophie Skelton) settled in Lallybroch in 1980. The young couple are having money problems as they put all their savings into the house, prompting Bree to get a job.

Bree goes for a job interview at a local dam, but the interviewer assumes she is there to apply for the secretarial vacancy because she is a woman. Bree intended to apply for the plant inspector role, and schools Mr Campbell on all the flaws of the dam and gets the job as a result.

After she returns home to share the good news with Roger, Bree is disappointed by her husband's unenthusiastic reaction. He explains he promised Jamie and Claire he would take care of her and the kids and he feels like he is failing.

Elsewhere, Claire (Caitriona Balfe), Jamie (Sam Heughan), and Ian (John Bell) make their way to Wilmington where they will set sail for Scotland before their plans are derailed. Jamie runs into Cornelius Harnett, a member of the Sons of Liberty, who upon learning that he is not joining the revolution decides he won't let him travel to Scotland.

Cornelius tells Jamie that he will have to fight or send someone else in his place, leaving him with no choice but to join the rebels. Jamie tells Claire he wants to enlist, mainly because he wants to protect his family, but also because he cannot ask anyone to fight in his place.

Claire understands and says she will go with him as the war efforts will require doctors, as Ian also joins the couple in their plans. In the town, Claire then runs into Tom Christie and is stunned to see that he is still alive.

Tom kisses Claire in a surprising exchange and they discuss the Fraser's Ridge fire and how he escaped execution for Malva Christie's murder.

Another new player enters the season as William Ransom, Jamie's illegitimate son, appears and it's revealed the soldier will be fighting against the rebels in the upcoming scenes.

Fans were extremely impressed with the fourth instalment of Outlander's seventh season as they took to Twitter to share their thoughts. One penned: "I appreciate the several-second focus on Claire after Tom leaves because Caitríona is truly able to convey THAT MUCH with just her facial expressions. An entire gamut of emotions without saying a word. #Outlander"

Another wrote: "Give me a whole season of nothing but Fraser domesticity, please and thanks. And they are kissing again! I swear, these two have kissed more in the first 4 eps of this season than they have in all of previous seasons combined! #Outlander."

"Crazy to think we're at the halfway point of the season already. Each episode has been so amazing, can't wait to see what the rest of #OutlanderS7 has in store," a third penned.

A fourth buzzed: "Bree breaking down the door of the patriarchy like her mama. Tom and Claire. Frisky Frasers. Meeting the Hunters. Ian and William. Jemmy and Mandy. This episode had it all. Season 7 continues to impress. #OutlanderAtMidnight."

"i really love how claire handled the kiss from tom, their conversation afterward, and then the gentle ribbing from jamie after… it was so perfect. mark lewis jones, caitríona balfe, and sam heughan strike again, they are absolute acting powerhouses! #OutlanderAtMidnight," another gushed.

While someone else added: "Gotta say, I’m cool with this divergence from the books in terms of how they get to Ticonderoga. The fewer boats, the better #OutlanderAtMidnight."
