Outlander author Diana Gabaldon will make a much-welcomed return to Scotland this autumn as she heads to Inverness for a special fan event. It's the third time she's been in the country this year, with the ever-busy writer already having spent time in Edinburgh this summer discussing her sell-out book series.
The 70-year-old will now head north to the capital of the Highlands to be interviewed by historical writer Sarah Fraser after she announced “an audience with” show at Eden Court this October.
English author Sarah, who now lives in the Highlands and has appeared in the TV series Men in Kilts with Sam Heughan and Graham MacTavish, told The National she is "in awe" of the Outlander creator.
Describing Diana as extraordinary, she added: "Diana’s ability to create scenes of huge emotional power means that history and personal narrative are woven together to give stories of great scale and also intimacy."

Organised by local fans Inverness Outlanders, the group said the event is "highly anticipated", they added that fans can expect frank discussions about her inspirations, research, love of Scotland and "maybe an insight into the work-in-progress of book number ten".
They added that with Inverness being the "home of Outlander" it is the "perfect setting" for such an event. They confirmed the author would be doing a book signing after the event finishes.
