Outlander auction as Sam Heughan signed Sassenach whisky up for grabs

Outlander fans are in for a treat as a Scots fish and chip shop has launched the ultimate auction for fans of the hit TV show.

The Bay Fish & Chips, in Stonehaven, is auctioning off a signed bottle of Sam Heughan’s popular The Sassenach whisky, signed by the star on the day he wrapped filming on season six of the smash hit show.

The auction is being run in aid of Finlay’s Fund, an organisation set up to support Finlay Sangster, a young man based in Stonehaven where The Bay is located. Finlay lives with Cerebral Palsy, and the fund was set up in 2009 to help with his support needs.

The Outlander cast and crew are one example of a host of celebrity fish and chip fans The Bay has catered for, which include: Kit Harrington, Rose Leslie, Phil Vickery and Michael Portillo.

The business fundraises regularly and has donated over £5,000 to charitable causes in the last 12 months.

Gail Sangster, Finlay’s mother, said: “This is such an exciting auction that Calum has very kindly organised in support of Finlay’s Fund.

"Outlander has been a roaring success, and I’m sure the bids will fly in for such a sought-after prize. Who wouldn’t want to win a fabulous Scottish whisky signed by the very man who launched it? We have been incredibly lucky to have the support of The Bay Fish & Chips and Calum from the very beginning of our fundraising journey in 2009.

“Calum’s kindness and the generosity of his customers has allowed us to support Finlay through the purchase of various pieces of equipment to support daily living and pay for private therapists to support physio sessions. Calum has supported and sponsored events, donated his bag charge and now he’s organised this exciting auction. We can’t express how grateful we are for the continued support and the genuine interest he takes in Finlay and his progress."

Calum Richardson, Owner and Chef at The Bay, added: “Finlay is an inspirational young man who’s achieved a great many things despite the significant challenges he has experienced in his life.

"At The Bay, we’re fortunate to be given the opportunity to regularly cater for film and TV sets, Outlander being one we’ve done a couple of times now. The team over there are really friendly, and that of course includes Sam himself. He was kind enough to sign a bottle of his amazing whisky for us, and we thought this would be a nice way to help raise some much-needed funds for young Finlay.

“We’re big Outlander fans ourselves, and we know how dedicated the shows followers are, so we hope the chance to own a bottle sign by Sam himself on such a milestone day for Outlander will prove popular. What better way to toast the new season than with a dram of the main star’s whisky? Thanks to Sam for providing it, and happy bidding everybody.”

The auction will be live until 8pm on Sunday 6 March 2022. To place a bid and for full terms and conditions, visit: https://bit.ly/3pt6DNP
