Outlander star Caitriona Balfe has teased fans that the StarzTV show could see a double death for the two main characters, Jamie and Claire Fraser.
The Irish actress has admitted that she'd love to see the pair have a Romeo and Juliet moment, dying as they'd be unable to live without one another, reports the Scottish Daily Express. The time-travelling duo had spent 20 years away from one another, and promised to never do it again after reuniting in season three.

The season six finale saw an attempt to rip the couple apart, as Richard Brown took Claire to jail in Wilmington to stand for the murder of Malve Christie. Whereas, Jamie was sent packing back to Scotland, but Young Ian rescued the hero, who went back to save his lover Claire.
As we look ahead to how the popular Scottish fantasy series will end, author Diana Gabaldon and Scots actor Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie, are the only two who know how it will conclude. Caitriona has confirmed that she prefers to not know the ending, but did share her thoughts on how she, personally, would like it to end.

Caitriona said: "I think it has to be a Romeo and Juliet moment, right, where we are both together, or a Naoise and Deirdre moment where Jamie and Claire sort of lie down together and slowly drift off.
“I don't think one can survive without the other and I don't think Claire will leave him at all. Nobody is eternal, so at some point someone is going to have to croak it so they might as well do it together!”
Both of the literary figures Caitriona mentioned, one of Irish legend and the other Shakespearean history, die in each others arms at the end of their lives.
Caitriona also mentioned to Digital Spy: "Maybe they turn into turtles, something that lives for hundreds of years, and they travel together, under the sea – maybe that's the end.”
Outlander is currently filming season seven across the UK, including Scotland. Season eight of the show is currently awaiting renewal by StarzTV.
