David Gormley will proudly lead Kilwinning Rangers into their first ever Scottish Cup tie tomorrow - but the Buffs boss already has his own special place in the annals of the national competition's rich history.
The 34-year-old was the tournament's joint-top scorer in 2016/17 with eight goals for Clyde - outgunning French superstar Moussa Dembélé who found the net five times as Celtic went on to win the trophy.
Former striker Gormley's feat is all the more remarkable given The Bully Wee - then in League Two - bowed out in the fifth round following the agony of an extra-time replay defeat against Ayr United.
It's a story to tell the grandkids in years to come but Gormley will go down in the record books again this weekend as the first manager to set Kilwinning off on the road to Hampden.
The Ayrshire outfit make the short trip to South Lanarkshire to face fellow West of Scotland League side Rutherglen Glencairn in the Scottish Cup preliminary round.
And Gormley is hoping it's just the start of another memorable campaign in the competition.
He said: "I remember watching the final back in 2017 and praying Dembélé didn't get a hat-trick to catch me!
"It was actually me and a boy from Bonnyrigg Rose, Wayne McIntosh, who finished with eight goals. I don't think too many people would remember that though!
"I'm really looking forward to being involved in the competition again with Kilwinning. It's a huge day for the club and I've been reminding the players of that.
"Hopefully we can go to Rutherglen and reward the fans and everyone who has got the club to this stage, with a result."
