Youssouf M'Changam on Monday evening sent Twitter into meltdown with a stunning free kick as Comoros looked to again upset the odds at the Africa Cup of Nations.
With his nation trailing by two goals, and one player and with a left-back in goal since kick-off, former Oldham Athletic player M'Changam thundered home a shot from well over 30 yards.
The goal gave the tournament debutants hope of the most unlikeliest of comebacks but for M'Changama and Comoros it was merely a consolation.
M'Changama made 30 appearances for the Latics back between March 2012 and March 2013.
He racked up two goals and just the one assist during that time but it would be hard to believe that any were as good as that strike on one of the biggest stages in international football.
Here is how Twitter reacted to what will surely be goal of the tournament.
After leaving Boundary Park, M'Changama had spells at Athletico Marseille, Grenoble Foot 38 and Ajaccio before eventually joining Guingamp in Ligue 2.
So far this season he has managed to score four goals and contributed 10 assists in only 19 appearances which earned him an AFCON call up.
His goal is likely to go down in Comoros folklore forever despite the result.
