Foodservice supplier Turner & Price saw sales increase by more than 60 per cent as the catering and hospitality sector it serves emerged from Covid.
The Hull operation’s turnover hit £73.1 million in the year to March 31, well above its £64.2 million pre-pandemic level and up from the £45 million secured in the lockdown-ravaged period.
The Dairycoates Industrial Estate business supplies ambient, frozen, non-food, refrigerated and fresh food products to restaurants, hotels, schools, pubs, hospitals and care homes at home and abroad, with a ship supplies division. Posting its results, alongside the strategic report -with a positive outlook highlighted, finance director Paul Brittain said: “The group was well placed to cope with the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and operated well during this period, hence it was in a strong position to take advantage of the opportunities as lockdown restrictions were relaxed.
“The directors of the group are pleased with the results for the year and continuous capital investment ensures that the group is in a position to perform well as trading conditions return to normal.”
Staff numbers swelled significantly to handle the uptick, up 27 per cent from 204 to 259, having been cut from 292 in the critical period.
The results follow hot on the heels of its annual trade event at the Bonus Arena in Hull, where it brought 100 different food, beverage, and ingredients manufacturers face-to-face with customers to try their latest product ranges.
