Out of favour St Mirren striker Lee Erwin set to leave Paisley to join FC Haka

Striker Lee Erwin is set to leave the Buddies after growing increasingly frustrated with his lack of game time in Paisley.

The former Motherwell and Leeds United hitman has only featured seven times this season, with most of those appearances coming off the bench as he struggled to convince boss Jim Goodwin he deserved a regular run out in the team.

Things came to a head when Alex Gogic was substituted on for Eamonn Brophy during the Saints' recent 1-1 draw with Motherwell, with Erwin the only recognised striker on the bench being overlooked.

Erwin also turned down the opportunity to join teammate Kyle McAllister in joining Partick Thistle on loan last month.

Now the 27-year-old is putting the finishing touches on a move away from St Mirren to join FC Haka, who compete in the Finnish top flight.

Erwin, who is no stranger to travel having moved to Iran in 2018 to join Tractor SC, had fallen even further down the striking pecking order in Paisley thanks to the emergence of Alex Greive.

The young New Zealand international has impressed since signing for the Saints last month, bagging two goals in his last two appearances in the stripes.
