'Out of a job' - Declan Rice responds to MNF challenge set by Liverpool great Jamie Carragher

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice has joked that making a Monday Night Football appearance will put former Liverpool star and pundit Jamie Carragher 'out of a job'.

The England international was interviewed by Gary Neville as part of Sky Sports' 'The Overlap', where they discussed the player being 'switched on' from a media perspective.

"Carragher's in trouble isn't he? On Monday Night Football," the ex-Manchester United defender joked.

"Carragher's a goner! I'm coming for him," Rice added.

The former Liverpool man took to social media himself and quoted the tweet from Neville, insisting Rice should appear on the show next month.

"Well get yourself on MNF in March @_DeclanRice let’s see what you’ve got," Carragher challenged.

The 23-year-old responded to Carragher's request, saying: "You sure you want that.. you’ll be out of a job!"

Carragher and Neville are renowned as football's best double act, often firing digs at each other both on and off screen.

The pair have appeared on Sky Sports' popular show Monday Night Football for a number of years.

Rice has established himself as one of the most promising young midfielders in England following his breakthrough at West Ham.

He's been linked with a number of Premier League clubs as a result, such as Manchester United and former club Chelsea.
