Our Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen opens up about meeting ex Clive and blames sheep

Our Yorkshire Farm has gained a large following of loyal watchers since it fist hit our screens. The Channel 5 show documents Amanda Owen's family as they go about running their remote farm in Yorkshire.

Recently, Amanda has been reminiscing about her first encounter with ex-husband Clive Owen. The 47-year-old first met 67-year-old Clive back in 1996 when she was a 21-year-old trainee shepherdess. Clive was 42 when Amanda first knocked on his door asking to borrow a ram.

She recently joked he "shouldn't have opened the door" to her. The former couple shocked fans earlier this year when they announced they had decided to split after 20 years of marriage. In their show, filmed before their separation, the two talked fondly about their relationship, The Mirror reports.

"And I'd come to borrow a tup, remember?"

Clive said: "I do remember. This six-foot-something woman knocked at my door."

"He shouldn't have answered it, should he?" Amanda quipped.

Clive agreed, laughing and added: "But I was very taken with her, you couldn't not be."

The couple went on to have nine children together, with the whole family helping out around their Ravenseat farm.

"This first time you and I met you it was a very dark evening," Amanda remembered.

Amanda has previously opened up about the unusual way in which she met Clive, saying it was "a sheep's fault".

Appearing on James Martin's Saturday Morning, Amanda said: "It was all a sheep's fault. Most things in life actually are.

"I actually was milking cows over in Cumbria and I was sent on a mission to go and borrow a tup [ram]."

She added: "So I went to pick up a ram. I took a male sheep, met Clive and that's where it all began."

Speaking about life on the farm, Amanda admitted: "It is very remote. I mean, it's a challenging place at the best of times.

"You have to adapt to the ways of the place and it certainly moulds your whole character. I think self-sufficiency has to be one of the key things that you have to get your head around."

Back in June, Amanda took to Twitter to announce she and Clive had decided to call it a day on their marriage.

She wrote: "Clive and I are sad to confirm that we have made the difficult decision to separate. This hasn't been easy, but we both believe it's the right choice for the future of our family.

"Although we are no longer a couple, we continue to work on the farm and co-parent together, with our number one priority the happiness and well-being of our children.

"We would like to thank everyone for their support and would ask that the media please respect our privacy as we work through this difficult time."
