'Our son has same name as King Charles - people can't believe it's real'

Meet Charles Windsor - the nine-year-old named after the man who would be King.

Schoolboy Charles reigns over the family despite being the youngest of his three brothers, with his parents revealing they named him after the royal simply as they "couldn't resist" the opportunity.

Matt and Amy Windsor said they were left racking their brains to come up with a name for their baby boy, the night before the 42-day government deadline.

The couple, from Cheadle Hulme, Greater Manchester, explained how the frantic search eventually led them to the name, and connecting the dots, they realised their son would be in good company when it came to his name.

But with King Charles' coronation now just days away, Charles's name has garnered more than a few raised eyebrows due to its regal connotations.

"People are always shocked at our son's name", Amy told the Manchester Evening News.

"We had our sister-in-law from Australia here recently, and after mentioning his full name, she was in disbelief. We even had to get his passport out to prove it to her."

Charles has been described as the "classic third child", and between he and brothers Aiden, 16, and 12-year-old Leo, his parents say he's "the loudest of them all".

"He loves his name and it suits him right down to the ground," mum Amy added.

"We thought we’d give him a sensible first name, and soon after realised the connection."

But veering away from the traditional regal first name, Matt and Amy decided on a complete U-turn when it came to his middle name - 'Danger'.

Amy, 42, said: "We named him Charles Danger Windsor so that one day he could say ‘danger - that’s my middle name’. I know that makes us terrible parents but we love his name.”

The pair even said they would let Charles’s brothers change their middle names to something unique through deed poll once they decided on a cool new one.

“It was a spur of the moment decision the night before registering his name, where a friend came over and gave us the idea.

"We considered naming him George too, and we are somewhat grateful for the change, considering he was born five days before Prince George.”

The wedding videographer says her son loves sharing his name with the King, and that the lead up to the coronation of King Charles on 6 May has become an exciting time for him.

“Charles is very aware of the Royal Family, especially now leading up to the coronation which he’s been learning about in school - it has become a prominent feature.

“Whether you are a royalist or not, it’s a historical moment. Most of us have only ever known the Queen to reign in our lifetime, and are we likely to see another?

“We thought celebrating the coronation would be a landmark moment for Charles, where it could be a memory he has forever. He is also a complete show off and attention seeker!”
