Our Place in Space has landed in Liverpool, bringing an 8.1k solar system trail to the city.
The colourful pictures below show the start of the trail on Church Street, with giant installations of the sun and planet Earth. The huge trail travels all the way from the city centre, down along the riverside and finishes in Otterspool.
Designed by artist Oliver Jeffers, astrophysicist Professor Stephen Smartt, and a creative team led by Nerve Centre, the trail lets you explore the solar system on foot or by bike. Along the trail, there are colourful arches, which are lit up with the names of each planet.

This morning, ECHO photographer Iain Watts captured these pictures of the Our Place in Space trail as it opened in Liverpool city centre:
People can get a free map from the Trail Guardians and stewards at the beginning of the trail on Church Street and collect souvenirs along the way. There's plenty of time to see Our Place in Space, with it remaining in Liverpool from today until November 6.
You can download the free Our Place in Space augmented reality app, available on Apple and Android, which takes you on a journey through the solar system. After beginning on Church Street, the trail heads down to the waterfront where signs will point you towards Jupiter, next to Tate Liverpool. Further signs will direct you along the Trans Pennine Trail, along the city's waterfront to discover Saturn and Uranus, before finally reaching Otterspool Promenade where you will find Neptune and Pluto.
Walking the whole trail at an average speed will take an estimated three hours, but you can also travel by bike, or visit the trail in sections. It runs along existing roads and footpaths, which are accessible to prams and wheelchairs.
Councillor Harry Doyle, Liverpool City Council's Cabinet Member for Culture and Visitor Economy, said: "We are delighted that UNBOXED have chosen Liverpool as the final stop for Our Place in Space this year. As the solar system takes over our city centre, we are celebrating the return of our major festival River of Light, welcoming the World Gymnastic Championships 2022 and are the centre of the art world as Tate Liverpool plays host to The Turner Prize. Liverpool is the only place to be this autumn for brilliant, free entertainment."
