Our Liverpool: we're searching for the best part of our city

Hi and welcome to this morning's Our Liverpool.

Today we're starting our mission to find out where you think is the best place to live in Liverpool. For me it's the city centre, but a few other places came close to getting my vote.

I was reminded it's World Book Day today and it brought back so many memories of my mum stressfully cobbling together a costume for me to wear to school. Anger, rows and drama... it's a Liverpool Council budget meeting

Yesterday the council held its most important meeting of the year as it set next year's budget. The meeting was tense, as witnessed by political editor Liam Thorp, with the ECHO's parking fines revelations a continual theme and the Lord Mayor even telling one councillor to "sit down and shut up" - which he later apologised for.

Man's life changed forever by 'brilliant accident'

Ian Delaney had been through a breakup and was lonely and isolated as the only LGBTQ+ person amongst his friends. That all changed when he found the Mersey Marauders, an LGBTQ+ inclusive football team, by a "brilliant accident."

He told our reporter Paul McAuley: "The experience of joining was very surreal - from knowing barely any gay people to being on the pitch with 22 of them was a different experience for me but I have never looked back."

Do you live in the best part of Liverpool?

And finally, before I round up some of yesterday's biggest stories... we want you to tell us where you think is the best place to live in Liverpool. Take our poll and tell us what you think.
