Today the awful news broke that a boy aged just 10 has died after being hit by a car. After the incident on Abingdon Road in Walton, the boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries but later died.
Floral tributes and condolences to the schoolboy and his family have been left at the scene. Police urge anyone who saw anything to get in touch with them.

Man dead after being found unconscious by stranger
A man has died after he was found unconscious on Birkenhead's Borough Road yesterday. Officers set up a cordon and the man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police said they initially believed the man had suffered a medical episode, but enquiries are on-going. Anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
Child killer's sentence could be increased after complaint
The sentence of Thomas Cashman could be increased after a complaint was sent to the Attorney General's Office less than three weeks after he was jailed for 42 years. Cashman avoided a whole life order during his sentence, however he could be in prison for longer if the complaint is passed on to the Court of Appeal.
Royals to visit Liverpool next week
King Charles and Camilla are set to visit Liverpool next week as they unveil the staging for Eurovision at the M&S Bank Arena. The Royals will be shown around the arena and will meet creative teams behind the process as well as celebrity presenters ahead of the contest next month.
