This week thousands have joined calls for a statue of legendary TV star Paul O'Grady to be built in his native Birkenhead just over a week after his death. The petition calling for Wirral Council to commemorate one of their brightest stars has now reached more than 115,000 signatures.
Kieran Gabriel, who started the petition, said Paul had left "a huge legacy" as a "trailblazing" drag artist and activist for LGBTQ+ and animal rights. Wirral Council said it was working on plans to honour Paul's life, including a "fitting celebration" coming next year.

Police have told people who "take illicit drugs on the weekend" to take responsibility in the wake of Olivia's murder. Deputy chief constable Chris Green told the ECHO how organised crime groups start controlling communities with "a criminal commodity" - usually class A drugs.
More families claim to have 'lost tens of thousands' after hiring builder
The ECHO has spoken to more families who say they have been left out of pocket by the same builder, after multiple Merseyside families claimed to have been left tens of thousands of pounds short last month. Collectively the families claim to have lost more than £45,000.
Baby boy had part of brain removed after 100 surgeries a day
Ronnie Rogers-Rafferty was just a couple of weeks old when he had a seizure that didn't stop. Ronnie was diagnosed with epilepsy, yet mum Kate was forced to look into further action as he began to have around 100 seizures every day.
Soon the family was in in Alder Hey awaiting vital brain surgery to remove the part of the brain causing the seizures. Kate is now urging other parents to learn the signs of epilepsy and to seek support if affected.
