Our Liverpool: Heartbreaking tribute to 'football mad' schoolboy

Hello and welcome to Our Liverpool.

A heartbreaking tribute was shared to Charlie Lowe on Saturday, April 22. The 10-year-old schoolboy was hit by a Ford Puma at around 4.30pm on Thursday, April 20 on Abingdon Road in Walton. People living on the road rushed to help before he was taken to hospital, where he died on Friday, April 21.

Merseyside police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward as enquires continue. Read his mum and dad's full tribute here.

New Bishop of Liverpool installed

The new Bishop of Liverpool was installed in a service at the city's Anglican Cathedral.

Dr John Perumbalath has become the ninth Bishop of Liverpool, succeeding Bishop Paul Bayes, who retired in February 2022. The Service of Installation took place on Saturday afternoon before Bishop John took his first Cathedral Eucharist as Bishop on Sunday, April 23.

Road where crashes leave neighbours 'stressed' and scared for children

People living near to the junction of a major Liverpool road claim they have been left “stressed” and fearing for children's safety due to car crashes taking place in the area.

Chislehurst Avenue in Belle Vale shares a junction with Childwall Valley Road and is where some residents claim crashes have taken place almost on a weekly basis in the last five to six weeks. Liverpool City Council, referencing its own data, said that is has records of seven crashes that led to ‘slight injuries’ occurring over the last five years.
